Lack of money and lack of good mood are bad consultants I'm afraid.

Like I had prophecised, I wouldn't be able to get the dvd out in October NOR November.

Lack of cash? Sure! Sales have hit bottom.
Lack of interest and excitement to get me moving? Sure! In the past months, only 2 or 3 persons (ALL strangers) bothered to ask me when I'd release Zagor.
PLUS, when your health sucks and your mood sucks too then even spending time on a dvd is a real herculian task.

...Which means... I'll TRY to release it just before Christmas.

Those who bought ALTIN COCUK may remember a small teaser I prepared for a LOST KILINK film I found, ok?

I thought that fans would wonder which one it was but I swear NOT A SINGLE SOUL asked me about it.

Anyway, this time, I'll make a proper trailer which will be on the coming Zagor dvd.

Hi again!

I really hope you all had a great summer.

As for mine, it was the worst in my entire life.
Right now, after my brain operation, I'm having daily radiotherapy and chemotherapy etc and this has turned me into a zombie. I can hardly move my ass and stand on my own legs. But this will soon be over and my ass will HAVE to move again because ZAGOR is calling!

HERE, LET ME SHOUT OUT A HUGE THAAAAAAAAAANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO SUPPORTED MY IN MORE THAN ONE WAYS!!!

But before the Zagor DVD, let me point out that my SUMMER SALES took another extension throughout September. I had to do that because August brought zero sales and now I'm on ground zero, with zero budget for the dvd and I- the fool- got plans to get it released in October.
My humble plan was to also have time and money to release another dvd at Christmas.

So, the first Zagor, will be ZAGOR KARA BELA, with lots of exclusive extras, soon to be announced!

It's pathetic to have no money at all while there are still lost treasures found.
Very soon I'll tell you what else I found which I can't afford and I bet you'll curse me for not buying it!

Tomorrow it's the operation. I'm trying not to think about it a lot but it's like some inner little goblin nesting within my stomach spits out fireballs and hits me with blasts that give me nausea and a flaming knot in my guts.

BUT, some encouraging words from here and there are my only weapons.

BEST AND WORST NEWS OF MY LIFE!!

How could this be??

Perhaps some of you remember that the films I considered the "lostest" were ZAGOR KARA BELA and ZAGOR KARAKORSANIN HAZINELERI.
At the same time they were my hugest obsessions since Zagor has always been my favourite comic book hero!

All those years, the biggest collectors, the biggest researchers, the biggest archivers, the biggest companies etc have always told me to "FORGET ABOUT THOSE 2 ZAGOR FILMS!!".

But somehow, God helped me unearth both of them!
I couldn't believe it if I didn't have the copies in my hands of course.
And the copies ARE in MY hands!

SO WHAT'S THE WORST NEWS IN MY LIFE??
That the same day I got the Zagors in my hands I was found with a brain tumour!
And the last 5 days have been a nightmare.
I've never felt so broken or hopeless and weak.

In one week I'll go to a hospital for an urgent surgery.
I'll spend a big fortune which I'll borrow from some bank and after the surgery God only knows how things will turn out, how I'll look like, if I'm cured, if I have side effects etc.

For the moment though, you can enjoy the 2 Zagor trailers and hope I'll be well enough to release them soon enough...

MENTION THE RAREST, CONSIDERED LOST, FILMS..

At different occassions, I have mentioned the rarest films ever.
Books, scholars, collectors, producers, you name it agreed on that.
Films that are not just rare in the sense of "hard-to-find".

I'm talking about films that are considered REALLY LOST FOREVER.
Films, that even the greatest collectors, the greatest researchers, the greatest fans, the greatest
film wackos have agreed they are LOST, DESTROYED, BURNT IN FIRES etc.

Now, among all these films, that even I have given up hope for, there are a few that are my personal dream, my personal all-time bet.

So, don't tell me "what about a clean copy of Turkish Wizard of Oz?".
I'd like you to come and mention here a bunch of titles that are considered LOST FOREVER by everybody, even me. If you have access to some of my past interviews or we have talked in person, or you have read some books (like Metin Demirhan's FANTASTIK TURK CINEMASI) you will sure know some of these titles.

Finally, I'd care to see who knows/remembers what my personal obsession is.

There's a reason I'm asking for this...

Hey guys!

I was wondering if someone of you out there had the knowledge and time and kindness to do me a small favour.

I have a nice offer for an ad at the GOREZONE mag.
Too bad the deadline is this Friday and even worse I suck when it comes to this stuff.

So, if anyone of you think he could make a fan ad that would be awsome.
It's going to be 1/4 of a page and the specs they need are:
Height: 149mm + 3mm bleed
Width: 105mm + 3mm bleed

As for the ad itself I'll leave it up to you.
All I want is to let readers get a picture of my dvd sleeves, plus some witty slogans... whatever.

So, if anyone thinks that would be possible before this deadline please let me know now.

BILL BACK, SITE UP

There were times that I didn't believe I would get out of hospital alive.
Even now, restricted in the house, not allowed to step out, not allowed to sit in front of the pc more than a few minutes at a time, I still think I'll go back to hospital or I'll have some final deadly epileptic seizure.
14 whole days in hospital, neurological clinic, among dying and/or insane people, were enough to break my morale and force me down on my knees.

I feel exactly like the zombie guy from Bob Clark's Dead of Night.
I feel I spent 14 days in Silent Hill and now I still don't know if I've escaped.
Maybe it's the pills' side-effect, maybe my mind and soul our out of place for ever...

Anyway, today, it's the day that my site www.onarfilms.com is back up.
I already received a correct order so I assume it's not going to explode one of these days again.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ONAR FILMS SITE??

For those who happen to wonder what the hell happened with that site, here's some update.

3 months ago I was convinced the site was non-functional and crappy in more than 1 ways.
For example, I was NOT able to send Newsletters.

So, I had my webmaster pull it down and reconstruct it all over again.

BUT, how can I ever forget about the Devil, or, more precisely, how can the Devil forget about my ass??

More collateral damage then, with my webmaster facing some horrible family and personal and professional tragedies.

Until, 2 days ago, after 3 months of hard work from him, and days of work from me filling in the products etc, the site was supposedly "UP".

BUT then, all of a sudden, without any god damn reason at all, the whole construction, the whole site, goes KA-BOOOOM and gets KA-PUT!

My webmaster is already insane.
He must work all around the clock now just for me to get it up again and as for me I must enter another mind-boggling, nerve-wrecking marathon of doing everything all over again.

But then again, what's the point?
If people wanted to buy my stuff they could easily do it via EBAY.
And this just does NOT happen...

That's it for the moment gentlemen...

Interview on ALTIN COCUK DVD

I feel I have to explain why the Interview on ALTIN COCUK DVD looks somewhat grotesque to some.

First of all we're talking about worldweirdcinema's review.
My good friend Jared pointed out there is a problem with this interview.
For some reason, all the other reviews I've received so far didn't notice that, obviously.

Maybe they were tactful but the problem is there and I'm not blaming Jared for bringing it up.

Well, it's one of those damn fuckups that usually fuck me up with those fucking dvd's:

1) The interview I received was TERRIBLY PATCHED UP and AWFULLY EDITED.
It was BEYOND REPAIR.

2) PLUS, they sent it on a MISERABLE, BROKEN DIVI, with dozens of PICTURE SHAKES!!!!

So, if I wanted to make it look more "like it" I should have just chopped it half.

Therefore, I simply opted to leave it all there AFTER SPENDING DAYS ON THE EDITING ROOM.
And as for the PICTURE SHAKES, I was just forced to cover those spots like this:
I had it re-recorded on another tape. Then, I covered the shaky scenes with scenes from the movie.

But STILL, there seem to be some problems and that's because I had to add the subs FIRST as I didn't know what to further cut and what not.
But then, with the subs on, it was impossible to do a new editing because the whole subs set would fall apart!

That's the whole story folks.

Looks like most of the people who saw it didn't mind.
Some others DID mind and some others WILL mind.

So, better be warned and think twice before spending your cash on a somewhat faulty DVD.

As if I wasn't deep enough in shit, my site, www.onarfilms.com fell apart and now it's being reconstructed.

In a few days it's supposed to be up again, in better shape.
And of course, I'll have to pay through my nose for all this.

By the way, one of its bigest problems was that I wasn't able to send NEWSLETTERS to my registered customers.

Last week I made an experiment and sent a newsletter concerning my 2 new dvd's.
However, I think nobody, or just a few people, received it.

I'd really like to know if some of you actually received such a thing last week...

At long last, after countless fuckups etc, today I took the godamn master to the factory.

But due to holidays traffic, it won't be ready before January 11.

I'm sick and tired of speaking of the devil and how often I ruin innocent people's lives.

Well, today I went to the studio for the final authoring touches etc and I found the chief guy ready to collapse, on a nervous crisis.

What had JUST happened?

Remember the FINAL DESTINATION horror series where death devises 100's of multi-complex plots in order to get the victims?

Similarly, if not identically, the devil did this:

The main studio room, with dozens of machines, pc's, servers and what not has an air-condition unit that keeps the room cool.

Now, the devil managed to cause a mysterious damage to the A/C unit which started leaking water at night while the chief was away of course.
It could have done this all the other 15 hours that he was there but it didn't.

Then, the water dropped on a pc monitor.
Somehow the water hit the proper circuit that caused a short-circuit on the pc.
As a mysterious result the short-circuit spread all over the other machines and blew them up.

And NOW, all the machines are dead, including the server that hosted ALL his projects including MINE.

Therefore, as it seems, all his work is gone to hell and unless it gets fixed somehow, he will have to buy new machines and start all over again which would cause a huge delay on my project.

When I went there and saw him ranting I felt like laughing and crying at the same time.

This could happen any of the other 51 weeks of the year BUT it HAD to happen the exact week that my project was being processed!!

GOD HELP ME!

CURRENT SHIT...

A guy earlier suggested I should get promotion and visibility on big sites like Eccentric Cinema or Av Maniacs.

Well, I already tried them but they just connected me with their balls.
Not even a response to say "no thanks".

What's funny is those particular sites boast they present independent labels and other crap but obviously I'm not independent enough for them.

Otherwise, these days I'm experiencing the bad old days' usual devilish shit.

My daughter is sick and every day we're running from doctor to doctor.

I got a horrible pain in the back which kept me some days in bed and now I'm walking like Star Wars' Yonda and I can't even lift a feather.

My studio guy who's working on the dvd authoring is ill with the flu.

PLUS, the guy who designs my covers just got divorced just like my webmaster!

So, ALL the people connected with me are going through hell and me and my family are currently bazzard's meat.

All in all, my mood and psychology are below zero and I just feel like killing myself...
...Something that sure delays the new dvd process....

UN-CARING AUDIENCE????

I felt I HAD to clear this in public..

A faithful buyer, Fred Anderson at Av Maniacs who also runs the great blog http://ninjadixon.blogspot.com/ was hurt by my words "UN-CARING AUDIENCE" in my previous post about the hassles of getting some new films.

Ok, DEAR Fred and everyone else hurt by my words...

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT "UN-CARING" STRICTLY REFERS TO PEOPLE WHO DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT MY DVD's!!!

I'd be nuts if I called my CARING buyers UN-CARING, for God's sake guys!

I was just talking about people who call themselves cult/trash/pulp/b-movie/mondo fans BUT prefer to either download my (or anybody's) releases or just read about them and NEVER EVER buy them.

I'm a PROUD fan because I have spent a fortune and have got not even my cash back, let alone any profit.
I've made sacrifices, I've given blood sweat and tears too for this kind of films and I find it absurd that only a few dozens of people THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PLANET buy my dvd's.

I mean, I could just release 500 copies of PAINT GOING DRY or GRASS GROWING and I BET there would 500 wackos who would buy those 500 copies.
And there are NOT 500 curious "fans" to check those turkish films?

I mean, I can see 100's, 1000's of blogs, sites, magz, whatever, with millions of people participating and obviously eager to experience this kind of films, ok?
BUT WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY WHEN A DVD COMES OUT?

NEW ACQUISITIONS ADVENTURE INFO.

In a previous post I was talking about a mad greedy collector in Ankara who owns 100's of 16mm films, most of them obscure titles that were considered to be LOST.

Some of them are the superhero films RUZGAR HAFIYE, BOMBALA OSKI BOMBALA, KAMCILI KADIN (KINOVA 3) or Cuneyt Arkin's LOST 60's actioner CEHENEMME BIR YOLCU.

Too bad the costs were so gigantic that I decided to buy ONLY the aforementioned 2 titles, RINGO GESTAPO'YA KARSI & that secret LOST KILINK film.

That guy demanded a fortune just to RENT his films.
Then, another fortune was needed for the cleaning of the films and the Telecine Transfer.
And of course, the relevant License money.
Oh, and another huge amount for my DEAREST Kunt Tulgar who travelled 3 times to Ankara, and then to Greece, for me!

First he went there to check on the films
Second, he went there again to get the films
Third and last, he went there to return the films.

BUT, that greedy collector had him sign an astronomical check (10 times higher than the rent fees!!!) so that in case he lost or damaged the films he would HAVE to sell his house to pay the madman!

And Tulgar gave the films to my EXCELLENT brother Ali Murat Guven who would take care of them and give them for the transfer to a good studio he knew.

Now, the days during the cleaning + telecine work were big hell for everyone involved!!

1- For Tulgar because Ali Murat was delaying and he was anxious to get the films back to Ankara as the mad guy was pressing him.

2- For Ali Murat because he had to deal with some problematic films and Tulgar was pushing him too.

3- For me because I heard all of them were acting like crazy over the films and because I HAD ALREADY SENT THEM THE MONEY and I had no idea what the result would look like.

Finally, I will just let you see some extracts from Ali Murat's emails that describe his adventure with those damn films:

{He bringed both films WITHOUT ANY REELS. Both films are naked, noo reel, millions of splices, and most important, both films are covered with an oily material. When you touch them, you feel a dirty thing on your hands.

I said to him first: "Your flims general condition are tragic. Specially, Ringo is terrible... Firstly before telecine, I will make a big re-animation operation on these films."

"He always says, I am in a hurry I must give the reels to the owner in Ankara within 2-3 days. Don't spend time with them. Make an express telecine and let's send them to Vassilis immediately."

I SAID MANY TIMES, "NO, I CAN'T. Because Vassilis is my friend and his money is my money. I can't send him a rubbish."

He never understands my feelings and fastitious appoach to you.

Despite his millions of calls and bla bla bla's,

1) I bought 3 pieces of quality 16 mm American reels and rolled the naked films on them.
2) I spliced both films' broken parts and repaired spockets at least 3-4 days again. I made at least 250 new splices.
3) I cleaned both films at least 3 times. Because the were covered with full vaseline (an oily thing. Some people shoe shines with it!)
4) Finally, I made the best telecine of Turkey for them. It is my best, because, both films, specially Ringo is a real rubbish.

I GIVE KILINK'S GENERAL CONDITION 7/10
This film starts with titles, all the titles are okey, generally good splices, you may understand the story, brillant black-white, a few vertical lines, and it finishes with the "end"...
It is acceptable condition. And I MADE IT BETTER after my surgery operation. The telecine service also tried to his best. Now, you may make an acceptable DVD with it. I am almsot happy for this title. There is only a sound problem (too much noisy recording) in the part 1, it takes nearly 10 minutes and turns to normal again.

BUT, I GIVE TO "RINGO" 4/10 TO RİNGO. BECAUSE IT WAS A REAL ZOMBI WHEN IT ARRIVED TO MY HANDS.

I cleaned it 3 times, I spliced its all broken parts. I also made my best in the teleciune service. The technician rolled it on the machine 5 times again a and again. But, that's all. It's general condition is like your first film "Kiling İstanbul'da.".

To make you happier, I resarched and bought 15 frames of lobby cards of this film from Turkish eBay.This collection can make the DVD richer as a "photo gallery".

In this peiod, THIS GUY ATE MY BRAIN, REALLY AET BY BRAIN.

I need time for repairing, cleaning, telecine, controls...

BUT HE CALLS ME EVERY DAY, EVERY HOUR, EVERY HALF AN HOUR.

Today was our randesvous day.

Yesterday I said him "Leave me alone, I will call you when everything completed succesfully. I can't send a bad thing to Vassilis. I must be my best. And this effort needs more time."

Now, the final meeting...

Tonight, at 19.00 pm, we met each other in the high way at the Anatolian side of Istanbul.

I gave him:

1) His original 16 mm films. This time, CLEAN, ON THE QUALITY REELS WITH HEAD STRIPES and TOTALLY REPAIRED! THEIR EVERY FRAME!

2) YOUR 2 BROADCAST MASTER BETACAM SP TELECINE CASSETTES. One of them is KILINK. The other is Ringo.

3) Your 15 frames of Ringo loby cards. Also + 2 copeas of CD's (they includes the high quality scans of the photos)

After this delivery, I said him "NEVER MR. TULGAR, NEVER AGAIN... Let's be cinematic friends forever. But, not trade partners..."

So, I kept my promises one more time.

I SPENT 10 DAYS, minimum 500 USD (tarnsportation, in every step, I rented a car and a driver, 100 USD per visit to the town) FOR TYOUR EFFORTS.

I also bought for these poor films 3 reels, it was 150 USD total.

HE ASKED ME THAT "what do you want for your co-operation buddy?"

I said him "Nothing Mr. Tulgar, because Vassilis is my friend and I am a Turkish cinema lover. Sometimes, we help each other with him. This is not a trade for me."

The last warning about Betacam SP masters...

KILINK is quite good as I said before. It starts at 02'00 and runs approx 65 minutes without any problem. In 3 point, it shakes for a moment, but not important. These parts are broken sprockets's areas.

BUT RINGO... The technician was becoming crazy when transferring it. He stopped three times Betacam SP, because the film was going like water on the screen. No sprockets, no normal periodic rythm... 3 times, there are problem points on the betacam. We stopped on these points. We repaired the film. We revinded the dreel 1-2 minutes. And we recorded again.

You must edit these 3 points on your editing suit. There is no loose of footage, only a replay part. Cut the further parts and add the correct pictures on the editing suit. This is not a big problem for you.

Normally, if you stop the Betacam cassette, you must start from the first frame again. The technician was loosing his mind, I said him "never mind brother, let's repeat only last 30 seconds part on recording." And he did the same thing.

Because, TULGAR WAS CALLING in every 5 minutes in this period.

That's why, you CAN NOT SEND to DVD mastering process directly RINGO...

You must upload to editing suit's memory it first in highest quality (In fact, I don't know what is highest quality on a film like this!) and an asssistant must cut its 3 parts and add. Then you may process the result for DVD.

WE HAD NO OTHER WAY ON THE FIRM. Because, it is impossible to run this reel in one time.

Well, I am so tired ... }

Well, I think you got a picture of what kind of shit me and lots of nice folks went through to revive those films and present them to an UN-CARING audience.
I feel like a total idiot now and then..

FINALLY, YESTERDAY I TOOK THE 2 BETAS WITH KILINK AND RINGO TO MY STUDIO HERE AND I'M EXPECTING COPIES SO THAT I PERSONALLY CHECK THE RESULT.
WHATEVER IT IS, I WILL DEFINITELY APPLY A STRONG REMASTERING HERE SO THAT I GET THE BEST POSSIBLE RESULT.

2 days ago I met with Kunt tulgar here and he brought me the betas of those 2 new acquisitions.
It was a hellish adventure to get this done as the only source was some buried 16mm prints in Ankara that had to be brought to Istanbul to undergo a major cleaning and then a telecine transfer to beta.

First of all, thank you for your moral support and compassion and condolences!

Let me comment on some of your ideas before I move on with my plans.

1- I would never release anything without having bought copyrights license. Perhaps I could get away with it but apart from it being too immoral/unethical for me it would not save me too much.
I mean, ok, I would save about 2,500$ which means I'd save 5$ per dvd copy, ok? And instead of 27-28$ I could therefore sell at 22-23$.
Well, I DON'T THINK THIS WOULD CHANGE ANYTHING AT ALL!
I recently cut all my retail prices down to 30-50% as you know.
Result? SALES GOT WORSE.
So, it's not really a matter of cheaper prices.

Maybe I should just keep that 2,500$ and not lower prices at all?
Yes, but that's still unethical and I just can't sleep peacefully knowing I'm illegal and next morning I could find myself in deep shit.

2- I could team up with some other label perhaps, ok?
And share costs and expenses. But still, what makes you believe there would be profits?
I want to share profits, not costs.
Destribution sucks not only for me but for all labels, right?
I don't know of any label flourishing and having profits.

Besides, I'm not so bad a person to want to drag people to MY hell.

3- Release other stuff, other countries?
Naaah! Italian films suck sales-wise.
Only porn and Holywood do well, but then I would never try these genres, would I?

As you see it's October already and I don't even have a cover for the ALTIN COCUK DVD.

There are bad reasons and good reasons for this delay.

Bad ones first:
I'M BROKE.
Why?
1- Lots of personal and family fuckups and unexpected expenses etc.

2- A certain Turkish producer wants more money from me because our contracts have expired.
I was fool enough to NOT mention this case in the contract and specify some amount for extension fees.
Now, that greedy and cunning guy is asking MORE cash than the initial costs of the films!
ALL other producers don't ask for extension fees but this one does.

He is right and I MUST give him some money but he determines the amount according to how much he needs not according to any law or contract etc.

I hate courts etc so I must bend down and prepare my ass for a deep Ottoman fuck!
Even if I knew he couldn't hurt me legally he WILL hurt me in many other ways, like slandering my name, closing all doors for business in Turkey etc.

Either way, heads or tails, I LOSE.
In both cases this is the end of ONAR.

I can't go on doing business like this, having no profit at all and giving a hell of cash to some producer. I got some pride too.
But even if I swallow it, and want to continue like a damn fool, that guy will SURE ruin all future business so... NO MORE TURKISH FILMS FOR ME.

GOOD NEWS NOW:

I'm broke and will be broker since I managed to unearth some totally lost films!

It's a long story but here's the juice of it:

-I discovered a collector of 16mm films.
-Most of them were considered lost.
-He is a superduper GREEDY guy though.
-He demands a FORTUNE just to rent his prints for a few days.
- Another fortune must be spent on the film cleaning and telecine transfer to beta.
- Plus, copyright fees of course.

Too bad I'm broke and couldn't get more than 2 films now.
Too bad these 2 will most probably be the last films I buy from Turkey.
Too bad I had to leave back LOST superhero stuff like RUZGAR HAFIYE, BOMBALA OSKI BOMBALA, KINNOVA 3 KAMCILI KADIN etc etc!!

So, what did I get?
1- RINGO GESTAPOYA KARSI
2- KILINK....???? Surprise surprise!!!

I prefer to keep some mystery here.
As soon as I get the films transfered and paid for I'll make a teaser of them.
As for that KILINK film, you'll see a teaser but NOT the title!
Title will be announced ONLY when the release is scheduled.
Which means when?
...which means when I release some OTHER stuff first and get some money.

So, the worst senario here is that I release whatever films I have already bought and then...bye bye Turkey!

Some gentlemen are wondering when this one will be released.

Well... so am I.

I earlier said that as soon as I raise enough money.

But if I wait till I get just my COSTS back from the latest dvd it's gonna be a looooong wait.

Speaking in numbers, I must sell about 350 copies of the last dvd just to get my costs back.
After that I'll be having a profit too.
But at THIS rate it would take me about 12 months.
Now, given that this rate won't be steady all the time and week after week sales will be dropping, I must make it about 3 years.

Thank God I'm also selling a few copies of my older releases in the meantime, plus those blessed old videos on ebay!
Therefore, my current plan is to get it released in October.

After about a year of negotiations and misunderstandings and suspense I managed to secure (meaning I already paid for) license for these 3:

ALTIN COCUK (THE GOLDEN BOY)
ALTIN COCUK BEYRUT'TA (THE GOLDEN BOY IN BEYRUT)
CICI CAN

The first one is the Turkish 007 version from 1966.
The second one is its sequel featuring a superhero-looking villain with mask, cape etc.
The third one is a 1963 weird bizarre spooky TWILIGHT ZONE-looking gem.

The prints are in very good condition by the way!

You can check trailers for the first and third on my dvd's and youtube.

The ALTIN COCUK character appeared in 2 more films that I would buy ONLY if the first 2 sold well and fast.

I really believe these 007 ripoffs are something unique and ground-breaking and don't tell me you're used to watching such films.
In fact these are another experiment for me.
I've released Superhero stuff, Vigilante stuff, Horror stuff, Historical stuff, Western stuff.... but NEVER SPY James Bond-ish stuff!

Those 3 have something in common:
The actor and producer Goksel Arsoy.
And of course, I've already ordered a special interview with him due to be given in a few days.

Yesterday, I took the master to the factory, at long last.

I encountered a problem with the sound and it took me a few extra days plus a few 100's of Euros to get it fixed.
There was a horrible hissing buzz throughout and it wouldn't go away no matter what.
I had to take it to a special sound studio and eventually the sound became hiss-free, clear, strong and as good as it gets!

The picture quality is better than I expected. Well, it's actually one of my CLEAREST releases!
And now that I watched it with subtitles I loved it even more.
It's a genuine, original, sick, unpredictable gloomy giallo... from 1967, in Turkey!

Now, the dvd will be in my hands for sale by the end of next week.

As for the price?
Remember that my 500 copy titles were 23.50 euro in retail, ok?
But, as promised earlier, now that I've run out of wholesales, I will share my lost wholesale prices with you.
So, as of now, all my future releases will be sold for 17.50 euro, ONLY!

Ok, one of these days I'll let you know about my new acquisitions and the title coming after Kadin Dusmani.
As for "when" is the next one, it ALL depends on "when" I get back enough money to be able to pay for it...

Here I am again, still breathing.

For those who care about what's going on with KADIN DUSMANI DVD, a few minutes ago I received the subs and I'll shortly start working on them.

Well, lately I've been -and still am- facing various problems with my personal life... lots of shit etc.

A big problem is the cash.
My current super-discounts don't seem to do the trick and I can't say I'm ready to pay for the dvd costs right now.
See, I'm one of those guys who hate owing money to anybody.
I always work in hand-to-hand terms. One hand gives the cash, the other hand gets the stuff.

But since I also hate fooling around I'll save on bread and milk and I'll just go on and release this damn thing in about 3 weeks.

This time, I'm in the unpleasant position of declaring that there's no retail sources you could buy this one from.
Right, I'm out of wholesales.
And I don't give a damn if a couple of small stores buy 2-3 copies from me just to demonstrate they got cool stuff for sale.

At least you can now buy them much cheaper than before since I'm going to combine the old wholesale prices with my retail ones resulting in really attractive prices!

Too bad though, as I'm going to have to wait for a loooooong time before I get back enough cash to release my next dvd.

BUT, Yilmaz Atadeniz is back again, asking for more money since I was dumb enough to sign licenses for 18 months ONLY instead of 5 years like ALL companies do!!

This case is a big pain in the ass and I must either throw tons of dvd's in the toilet and never release other films at all, OR pay Atadeniz LOTS of cash!

This situation has caused me so much trouble and grief that I've lost my appetite for the whole Turkish Films story.

I may as well start selling greek cheese-pie in my neighbourhood or something...

CRAZY DISCOUNTS (KICKING RECESSION'S ASS)

Everybody is talking about financial crisis, recession etc etc and they're lamenting that business is going to hell and sales are 80% off and they're going to close down and other crap!

Why crap?
Because those who complain are not doing the slightest thing to make things straight.
Why??
Because: 1) THEY ARE BRAINLESS
2) THEY ARE LIARS.

For months now I've been trying to go on some trips here in Greece for the weekend and I tried to book a room at some remote villages.
Result?
I always try 2 months prior to going and they ALL tell me they're FULL!
And when I find something the prices are 20-30% higher than last year!
And when I go there I CAN see all hotels and pensions are FULL indeed!

Now, I'm trying to travel to some european capital, next month.
Same shit.

The travel agencies here are telling me that prices are indeed MUCH HIGHER than last year and that ALL hotels get full!

Same with houses here.
They're saying they remain unsold but prices are HIGHER than last year!

Same in the supermarkets.
They say they're getting fewer and fewer customers BUT their prices are 20-50% higher than last year!
Besides, I can see that ALL supermarkets are JAMMED with customers!

Same with restaurants, same with electronics stores etc etc...

SO, WHO THE HELL ARE THEY FOOLING????

A few months ago I was optimistic enough to believe that this DVD would be out "early 2009".

Well, unlike older releases, no accidents have happened to any of the people involved in this (YET).

So, what's the idea?

The idea is best described as "no money no honey".

In particular, sales are going to hell in general.
ALL my wholesale customers have dumped me and my retail ones seem to be broke for ever.

So, it's all a matter of money and nothing else.
I'm just trying to raise the funds to pay all the relevant bills as I hate owing people money.
I could just go ahead and release it and keep people waiting to get their money till I get enough money but this is NOT my style.
I raise cash FIRST and THEN I proceed with the production.

This goddamn recession has affected dvd buyers too, obviously.

So, according to my current estimations, it should be out middle April the earliest or middle May the latest.

WHY I'LL NEVER RE- ISSUE ANY DVD's

I noticed that there's a small controversy over re-releasing any of my dvd's that go sold out or not.

Jack, or anyone thinking it's a good idea to re-print the sold out ones I must simply say FORGET IT.

Why?

1- Even if I go ahead and re- release something like Kilink Istanbul'da or Cellat (AFTER it's sold out) what are the prospects?
Sell maybe 2 or 3 copies per month and wait till the 22nd century to sell out again?
Let me stress that Kilink only picked up on sales the last 2-3 months when I announced certain things, meaning I just sold about 10 copies per month.
As for Cellat, ok, there are about 150 left but lately I'm selling about 1 or 2 copies per week and given that a bit later it'll slow down even more and given that there's no REAL wholesale business anymore for me, I'll sell out Cellat in 2 or 3 years.

2- I just don't believe there's "masses" of people who need to buy this stuff. IF there were they would just BUY the stuff NOW.
It took me almost 4 years to sell out 1000 Kilink copies which was a smash hit and I started out with LOTS of wholesale deals.
Now, that I'm practically ALL ALONE it would be suicide to re-print anything at all.
I JUST DON'T BELIEVE THERE'S ANYONE WANTING TO BUY MY STUFF EXCEPT MAYBE 200 REAL FANS AND ANOTHER FEW WHO JUST BUY MY STUFF BY ACCIDENT OR OUT OF CURIOSITY. SO, 500 COPIES ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH.

3- Last and most important....
I'm a man of my word and I respect my buyers.
I promised I'd NEVER re-release anything from my first steps.
My "limited" releases are limited and "collectible" because they come in LIMITED editions, thus accounting for their price and cult status.
IF I re-print anything it'll be as if I cheated those nice folks.
I WOULD HATE MYSELF FOR THAT AND I STICK TO MY WORD!
NO DAMN RE-RELEASES FROM ME, EVER!

Hi to all!

1)- To those who missed my posts I apologise but the past weeks have been a total hell for me and I wish I could just delete them from my life.
They made me feel like shit, they cost me a psychological downfall and 7,000$ (so far), and it's got nothing to do with films. Just personal stuff...

2)- CELLAT has been around for exactly 1 month now. The first days it moved pretty fast, but the last days now it has just come to a "grinding halt", as THE CURE used to sing.
However, thanks to a great wholesaler right now I've sold a total of about 350 pcs, meaning there are about 150 left, whatever this could mean.

3) I'd really LOVE to hear any comments on the VIGILANTE DOCUMENTARY on this DVD, and particularly which of the reviewed movies intrigued you the most. I, for one, got excited with all of them but let me stress out the importance of BUYUK KIN (BIG HATE). I have seen the whole film and was overwhelmed by how bleak, violent, savage, pessimistic and well-made it is. And keep in mind it was made in 1967!
I guess I'll have to upload a long trailer for everyone to check out. Meanwhile, please go ahead and offer me your suggestions!

4)- If you check my site, www.onarfilms.com you'll see info for my NEXT RELEASE, KADIN DUSMANI (WOMAN DESPISER), an unexpectedly effective gothic giallo TRULY ORIGINAL mega- obscurity, from 1967!
When exactly will it be out? Due to my personal shit, explained above, I'm going through a damn frustrating adventure which is going to cost me many more 1,000's of $$ meaning that it may take me much longer than what I figure.
Besides, this worldwide financial crisis has affected my overall sales to a great extend and saving up money is a herculian task.
I'll try to release it March or April 2009 but it all depends on my sales till then.

5)- Finally, some good news (for you). Since I'm left alone now, without any serious wholesales, I'll have to sell my stuff all alone... BUT given that I won't be selling at low- price wholesale rates anymore I WILL be able to lower the prices for my NEXT RELEASES, by about 30%.
So, as of 2009, my NEW DVD's will retail at about 17 Euro, instead of 23.50, and that SHOULD be good news!

WHY MY RECENT DVD'S ARE MORE EXPENSIVE...

I received an email from a frequent buyer who was complaining about the high prices of my recent dvd's and that all Hollywood releases are much cheaper etc.

Here's (again) the answer/ explanation to everybody and please tell me if I'm wrong or absurd or greedy or whatever...

First, the price is not £23.50 (pounds) but 23.50 EURO, which is completely
different (this is what he assumed).

Second, those brilliant Hollywood releases come out in 10,000 or 50,000
copies or even more so they CAN afford to sell them at even 10$ and
STILL have a gigantic profit!

Third, in case you haven't noticed, my NEW dvd's come in 500 (five
hundred) numbered copies!
Now, given that I pay for copyrights, factory, studio authoring,
translations, remastering etc, selling them at 23.50 EURO will only leave
me with a TINY profit even if I sell out!

Just mention me any other release, as limited as mine, that's cheaper
than mine!

Fourth, I'm NOT getting 23.50 EUR on all of them! Half of them are sold
wholesale to dealers at 12 EURO! Now, can you imagine what kind of
"profit" I'm getting?

Fifth, all my dealers are going away and my biggest one is closing down,
meaning that AFTER CELLAT dvd I will be selling my stuff ALONE!

This is BAAAAAD news for me but GREAT for you because I won't have to
sell at 12 euro to any dealers so I will be able to lower my prices!
So, after CELLAT, it looks like I'll be ALL alone and I will be able to sell
my new dvd's at about 18 euro, or even less, maybe 17!

Also, if you buy multiple items you will be getting a discount as you know and
therefore, my 23,50 dvd's will finally come for about 20, anyway.

Guys, let's not use vulgar expressions for Yilmaz Atadeniz.

Let's not forget that he is a big capital in turkish cinema and he has offered us dozens of ground- breaking cult films and I will always RESPECT him for his work.

I really don't know what urged him to ask for more cash from me.
I repeat, he is 100% CORRECT if we look at it law- wise.

Yes, our contract mentions 18 MONTHS.
And YES, I'm 1 year overdue that!
As he said, he made me a favour allowing me an extra year.
The contract and the law are on his side and I can't say a word.

I don't know... perhaps his business is not going that fine and he just needed a few extra bucks.

I can't blame him for breaking any kind of law.
It's ME who's breaking the law actually.

I was just a fool to have not anticipated and predicted this shit.

KILINK DVD's WILL DISAPPEAR!

As if I didn't have enough problems, I just received a threatening message from Yilmaz Atadeniz, the producer of the 3 KILINK films I have released, that our contract period is overdue and that I must either give him MORE money to prolong the contract or return him ALL my remaining DVD's!

Yes, our contract mentioned 18 months and I was stupid enough to believe that he wouldn't mind giving me a break.
I was stupid enough to ASSUME that after that period, he was JUST free to sell the copyrights to another guy too.
And I was stupid enough to believe that 18 months were enough to sell out.

And now....

So, while we're talking, I'll try to buy some time, for maybe 1 month and try to get rid of my 2 KILINK dvd's (KILINK ISTANBUL'DA & KILINK DOUBLE BILL).

Thankfully, I've ALMOST sold out KILINK ISTANBUL'DA.
There are about 120 dvd's left.
But there are at least 400 dvd's left of KILINK DOUBLE BILL, which means 1 month is NOT enough to get rid of them.

So, for about 1 month, the 1st KILINK will be available on my site. After that, it will HAVE to disappear!
I don't think I'll sell out in 1 month but I'll just have to remove it from the site.

As for the other KILINK dvd, I'll be offering it at a ridiculous price and then I'm not sure...
Return all the remaining ones to the producer?
Or double- pay like a damn fool a small fortune for a deadbeat that will not sell out even in 10 years?

What's worse is that Atadeniz will probably demand the same thing for stuff I haven't EVEN released!

A few of you out there noticed that my new, 11th DVD, KORKUSUZ KAPTAN SWING, came out early August, on 500 numbered copies. Most of the others just did NOT notice...

CELLAT is supposed to come out late October.
The relevant documentary on Turkish Revenge flicks is ready and on its way to me.
My ORDER was that it MUST be full of clips and teasers and highlights from dozens of bloody revenge- vigilante Turkish movies. A personal favourite is called BUYUK KIN (BIG HATE) (1967) and the scenes included will most probably get you hooked!

Now, after CELLAT.. what? Good question...
If you check the NEW trailers on Kaptan Swing DVD and all the previous ones, from Kizil Tug etc, you could just SUGGEST.

Some guys are begging me to release more westerns, but I'm afraid if Kaptan Swing is a western to go by (sales-wise) I should NEVER release anything similar, not even in 100 years...

Same with historical stuff. KIZIL TUG was my death and I will avoid releasing anything of that kind during this century...

CELLAT on DVD in September!

Although I didn't see any fresh votes below about this film I decided to simply go ahead and buy it.

So, I just got a screener off the beta and the quality looks quite good. It cost me a bit more than usual but what the heck!

I'm in the process of contracts etc right now and I will definitely release it in September.

As for extras, cover etc I hope I'll know what it's going to be like in a few weeks.

KORKUSUZ KAPTAN SWING (CAPTAIN SWING THE FEARLESS) -New DVD

As a passionate lover of most italian 60's fummetti comics I was shocked to learn that the Turks had made a film adaptation for IL COMANDANTE MARK (1966) a.k.a CAPTAIN SWING a.k.a CAPTAIN MARK.

And this, among other reasons, is what motivated me to start ONAR 3 years ago.

I used to read AND collect the greek edition of the comic back in the 70's and I'm proud to say I have 100's of those precious mags.
Here, Captain Swing first appeared in the late 60's in his own mag called SWING. It only ran for a couple of issues and it was then incorporated in a triple-bill mag called OBRAX (out of... TOM BRAKS). This one ran about 240 issues. Right after that he appeared in JAGUAR mag, among many other heroes which ran about 30 issues. Finally, during the late 80's he appeared in PERIPETEIA (ADVENTURE) in a double bill with TOM BRAKS again, for over 100 issues.

So, in my new DVD coming out late June, I'll include a photogallery of a few of those amazing Greek magazines.

Finally, let me stress out that this release is a "prova generale" for the "Turkish Western" genre! That is, if this release sells well I'll sure go on and release more Turkish spaghetti westerns. Like many others have said, the 40 PAGES GUIDE on ALL TURKISH FANTASTIC FILMS could be the best reason to buy this DVD.
It's not only that of course but I must humbly say I am VERY proud of that booklet. It has turned out to be much better than I imagined and expected.

KIZIL TUG CENGIZ HAN DVD in the factory, BUT...

...But, as you know, there is going to be a booklet insert, TURKISH FANTASTIC CINEMA GUIDE.
I'm afraid this part will obviously delay the release for a few days because some last-minute shit came up and the material is not at the press yet.
It will go tomorrow but those lazy guys need 1 week to get it ready. Meanwhile, the DVD will be ready at the factory but they will wait for the booklet of course.

As for that damn booklet I had to make it 40 pages instead of the originally announced 32, due to massive material. Of course, my costs will go even higher but what the hell, I'm not expecting to get rich with those dvd's.
I made sure there are dozens of cool posters in there, most of which are first-time published anywhere! I chose the rarest of them all!

Also, there is the first part of a huge documentary I have secured. This first part deals with historical movies of course and runs about 15 minutes. You'll see dozens of scenes from dozens of films plus lots of stars and directors speaking, one of them being Cuneyt Arkin! PLUS, the girl from SEYTAN who later starred in historical sword epics. All these, in this part of course.

As for the trailers, there are four of them, ALL from my NEW acquisitions and you have NEVER seen any of them before. Titles?? Well, let's have some suspense here...

I have bought a superb Documentary, running 92 minutes, including dozens of interviews and scenes from countless obscure films of all genres. It runs by genre (Western, Historical, Superhero, Cuneyt Arkin, etc etc) so, I decided to offer it in relevant parts, depending on genre.

Let me be frank and honest.
This is a Historical Peplum film and I already know that most of ONAR's fans don't give a damn about this kind of stuff.
But I can't always release Superhero stuff because everybody will be bored to death sooner or later.

I'm a fan of ALL genres of Turkish Fantastic Cinema and I really want to release stuff from ALL genres. Historical, Western, Fairy Tale, Bizarre etc etc.

So, EVEN IF you don't dig this film I'm trying to MAKE you buy it offering you those extras as sort of BAIT or COMPENSATION (choose either...)

PLUS, it will be sold CHEAPER than the other 500-copies DVD's!
I know I'll have trouble selling it so what with the EXTRAS AND the LOWER price, I want to believe it will finally sell out sooner or later.

I repeat... I'M NOT DOING IT FOR THE PROFIT BECAUSE THERE IS NO PROFIT IN IT.
I'm doing it because I like it and I'll do my best to find another 500 true cinema fans who will NOT let buried films stay buried.

CICI CAN- Turkish Weird Unique 1963 Lost Gem!

Remember a mysterious teaser I uploaded last December?
It was called "Turkish Eerie Lost Gem" and I only had a promo of the first 7 minutes off which I made up a 2 minutes teaser.

The title is CICI CAN (pronnounced CHICHI JAN) and was made in 1963 by the team that later on made the 007 ripoff ALTIN COCUK series.

I was told it was based on a kids comic!! The movie itself ranges from spooky to weird and eerie and nutty and silly and superheroic and metaphysical and nostalgic and romantic and....
Generally I find it to be a truly unprecedented Turkish movie and totally original in every way.
For example, can you tell me of ANY other films of that period that used the "cartoon with real actors" effect?
Here, we have a gross ghost animation among real actors! In Turkey! In 1963!!

Now, as a democratic man, I'll do it like this.
I'll leave it up to you.
You be the judge of it!

KUNT TULGAR WAS IN ATHENS!

Last week I became the happiest Greek for an evening.
Kunt Tulgar passed from Athens and we met!

Who's Tulgar?? The director of SUPERMEN DONUYOR, TARZAN KORKUSUSZ ADAM etc and the star of YILMAYAN SEYTAN and also the kid Tarzan in TARZAN ISTANBUL'DA.
He's also one of the friendliest and most amusing persons I've ever met.

He showed up with the most charming Muslim girl I have ever seen too!!
Yeah! He's 60 but looks much younger and is full of energy and passion!

We went out for some Ouzo and greek delicacies and I really felt like a high school boy having fun with another high school guy!

Gosh, the stories he told me...
- You know, when TARZAN ISTANBUL'DA was made, the americans took his father and the director to court for using the name Tarzan which had been copyright-protected for 32 years.
BUT the Turks had an ace in their sleeve... They found some villager named TARZAN who was 50 years old and claimed that it was the americans who had stolen and abused his name! And they even asked for a 10,000$ compensation! LOL!

- The black guys in that Tarzan were really black, ok? One day, his dad bought 100 kilos lamb meat and cooked a huge soup in a cauldron. He told the black extras not to throw the bones away. They kept them and after dinner was over he had them wear the bones round their neck. And when they protested their bodies were full of oil and grease off the bones he gladly shouted "all the better!".

Hmm, I must go and have lunch now...

DEMIR PENCE KORSAN ADAM DVD- Out February 8

Hey! Long time no see...
Happy 2008 to everybody, by the way.
The final master of this one is in my hands and in 2 days I'll give it to the factory.
So, the dvd should be in my hands, ready for sale, on February 8.

Mind you, it will be the most limited edition so far. 500 NUMBERED copies ONLY.
From now on, never again 1200 numbered copies. Too many copies...too few fans...you know the rule...demand vs offer...
So, from now on, ALL my dvd's will come in 500 NUMBERED COPIES.

As an inevitable result, the prices will have to go up.
The quality of my work will remain the same, and I'll try to make it better of course.
My costs will remain practically unchanged (copyrights, authoring, subs etc) while the factory costs will be only slightly lower, as well as the covers.
So, since my costs remain ALMOST the same and given that I press about 60% fewer copies I should raise the price by 60% accordingly....
...BUT I will just raise it by less than 40%, even 30%.

Ok, I decided to cut down on my "profit" (LOL).
It's the only way to keep ONAR into business.
I never dreamt of getting rich with Onar.
I just dreamt of having some fun, finding old lost movies and offering them on decent, official, subtitled dvd with a couple of extras, that's all.

I'm aware that 100's of fans will shy away because of the new- higher- prices.
BUT, I want to believe that eventually, even if it takes a few years, I will find 500 fans who will buy my dvd's anyway.

What I must point out is the new situation.

Inevitably, all my future releases will come out in 500 NUMBERED COPIES.
So far I've been trying to offer 1200 copies per title but the demand was not up to that.

Sadly, my costs will remain almost the same (Copyrights, authoring, extras etc) which means the prices WOULD have to go up by 100% BUT I will just raise them by 30-40% ONLY.
My final profit will be MUCH MUCH less than that of 1200 copies but as you know I'm not in it for the profit but for the fan.

I know that a large number of people will shy away from my DVD's due to the high price BUT I want to believe that there will be at least 500 faithful fans who will spend some more cash for the MOST LIMITED RELEASES on earth.

ONAR'S RIGHT HAND IS DEAD!

It took me a while to find the heart to sit down and write a few lines about the biggest strike both in ONAR's existence and in Turkish Cult Cinema in general.
About a month ago, my good friend and main helper Metin Demirhan, was about to take some important interviews on my behalf, in Istanbul.
Then, sudden silence...
A few days later, I get news from a common friend that Metin was in intensive care with brain bleeding, in a deep coma.
10 days later I hear that he's starting to move his eyes and his fingers and everybody believed it was a miracle and he would wake up.
On November 1, Metin passes away.
Our common friend, and famous journalist Ali Murat Guven, attended the funeral and sent me photos with his coffin etc.
I don't want to look at them and I don't want to accept he is not with us.
I was keeping all his emails bacause there was precious info in all of them and because I just liked them.
I still see his last email, telling me he's about to interview those guys and I'm still waiting for his email, telling me everything is ready.
I remember, 5 months ago, he was ready to get an interview from Yesim Yukselen, a sexy vamp playing in lots of cult movies.
She was not really old.
Suddenly, Metin tells me that the day before the interview she just died.
He was totally shocked. Said she was like a mother to him.
I guess he was feeling cold with the touch of death that took a dear friend.
Maybe cold because he realised death is unpredictable.
Maybe lucky because it wasn't him.
Maybe appreciated life better.
And now?
He's simply dead and buried.
As Ali Murat put it to me :
{ He worked for the art of cinema in all his lifetime. He never saw a 1000 USD together in his long working years in the media. If he had a cup of coffee and a packet of cigarettes, then he was always happy and smiling like a little child. He wanted nothing for himself, he always wanted to live inside the great family of cult film lovers from all over the world.
He was always poor and “no-budget” like the movies which he was interested in and wrote about}
He took all recent interviews for me. There is also a personal interview with him in my TURKISH HORROR DOUBLE BILL DVD.
Luckily, just a month before his tragic demise, he took 2 interviews for me. His last interviews.
One with Yilmaz Atadeniz (Kilink, Casus Kiran etc) and one with Irfan Atasoy (Star in all of Atadeniz's Fantastic films).
I will include them in future releases of course.
He wrote the cult and unrepeatable book TURKISH FANTASTIC CINEMA and he was shooting a cheap gory film since last year, which regretably remained unfinished ( Baltam Gelecek Kellen Gidecek!) (My axe will come, your head will go!).

It is totally macabre to check them out. They feel like some kind of orphans to me. Who will take care of them now?
Ok, I'm absolutely freaked out by this horrible loss and I really feel the whole Onar project kind of useless.
He was my biggest fan and biggest admirer and biggest assistance.
The least I can do from now on is to dedicate all my dvd's to him and call them something like "METIN DEMIRHAN COLLECTION".
He deserves it. He was the one who started all this "trend" and he made so many films known and sought after, through his book.

SOME THOUGHTS FOR THE FUTURE(?)...

So, TARZAN ISTANBUL'DA DVD is finally out. "So what?" must have been the first response of "fans", provided they even knew about it.
It came out last Friday, October 12th and since then I was forced to re-think about Onar's future.
To cut a long story short, sales dropped even more.
I managed to sell a few copies the first day of release and since then, ZERO, NIX, NADA, CAPUT, etc.
My older releases used to have a particular dynamics. I kept selling a few items every day for about a month and then things slowed down.
Now, I sold a few dvd's for 1 day and then everything stopped.
Even worse, half my wholesale clients quit buying from me and the few that remained just ordered 3-5 dvd's for the sake of appearances.
Ok, I still have 1 good and faithful wholesale client and thanks to him I'm still in business.
So, now it's as good a time as ever to face the reality and fight with it.
Although over the past months I've been trying to improve my products in every possible way and although I dropped the prices by 2-3 euro and although lots of people admit and appreciate it, the result is nevertheless negative and leathal.
It's obvious that there are not 1200 fans of this genre on earth who can support me.
So, I must address to the correct number of fans that is not even 500.
Now, my idea is this:
I will quit pressing 1200 pieces.
I will be pressing a SUPER-MEGA-LIMITED edition of 500 copies.
However, since my costs will remain the same (COPYRIGHTS- AUTHORING- SUBS- FACTORY etc) I will have to raise the price.
But since I will stick to only one wholesale customer who will buy a small quantity and since I will have to sell the rest alone I will be able to keep prices at a reasonable level.
Normally, since all costs will be the same while the copies will go down to 500, the prices would have to go more than double.
But now, I figure I will be able to retail them at only 23-25 euro, while my faithful retailer will probably offer them at a similar price.
Now if you have heard of a more limited edition at a cheaper price, go ahead and post it here!
As for my previous plan of releasing 1 dvd per month I guess it will have to be modified according to people's response.
For the moment, I'll still try to release CASUS KIRAN in November, on 1200 copies.
But after that, right now I don't know which film I must release, or when.
I wish I could afford Christmas time.
I'm ready to listen to your thoughts and ideas.

SEPTEMBER 23- 2007

As you can see at Tarzan's extras, there is a new addition. I managed to secure a never-before-seen lost check sequence. It is a mute 40 seconds camera test before the actual shooting. We can see the director Orhan Atadeniz, Kunt Tulgar playing Tarzan as a child etc. The release date is likely to be October 10.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

I thought that some people might care to know that I'm about to lay my hands on some "lost" turkish old films.
I had been looking for them and asking for them for 3 years now. Everybody around the world, everybody in Turkey insisted that I should give up on them. I had unleashed the best hounds after those titles. I had made the best connections in the turkish cinema industry. I had offered enormous rewards for the finders.
BUT, even before me, all the strongest collectors had spent a lifetime searching for them. The actors AND directors of those films had been looking for them too! I, too, had pronounced them "officially lost".
BUT, my greek village is known for its crazy people. And like a crazy man, I never ceased the quest.
And NOW, I received official confirmation that many of those titles were discovered in 16mm prints! The guys are ready to make contracts with me, BUT if I don't see screeners of the films I can NOT believe the story. BUT, to get screeners I must pay loads of cash. AND even if the films ARE there, I must pay to acquire them. Plus, the license fees are enormous. And since my sales are going from bad to worse I feel totally frustrated.
As for the titles, I just can't announce them before I actually see the screeners and this will obviously take some time. Besides, right now, I feel as anxious and nervous and frustrated as ever, so here's a nice chance for you to share some of my anticipation and curiosity...

FINALLY...

I thought I'd kill my dvd's prices for a while hoping this will boost sales up a bit. I need urgent cash for my new finds as I explained above. So, as of today until October 31 ALL ONAR DVD'S WILL BE 2 EURO CHEAPER & ALL TURKISH IMPORTS WILL BE 4 EURO CHEAPER!!

OCTOBER 3

I'm afraid I'm getting boring and predictable but as ALWAYS, more fuckups with the TARZAN DVD. I was supposed to have taken the master to the factory last week already.
Suddenly, after an endless remastering, I found out that the sound had been completely discoordinated! The studio guys confessed this was an unprecedented phenomenon.
Then they did what needed to bring the sound back to order and started adjusting the subtitles.
But, for some satanic reason, the english subtitles refuse to sit on their place! They seem to have come alive! They just REFUSE to sit where they're supposed to! And this is another phenomenon according to those frustrated people! They promised everything will be taken care of by this weekend and this Monday, October 8th, the master will go to the factory. And it will be ready for sale after about 10 days...hopefully.

OCTOBER 7

Ok, the master is ready! Tomorrow I'm taking it to the factory and it's quite probable the DVD will be in my hands on Friday 12th.

And I guess you have already checked my next- after TARZAN- DVD, CASUS KIRAN (SPY SMASHER).
